Cordyceps sinensis is a precious medicinal fungus that grows mainly on the Tibetan Plateau and other areas at higher altitudes. Cordyceps sinensis gets its name from its special life cycle: in winter it exists in the form of an insect and parasitizes the larvae of bat moths; By summer, its hyphae grow out of the larvae's body, forming a grass-like subplot. • The main production areas of Cordyceps sinensis are concentrated in the high-altitude Qinghai-Tibet Plateau and its surrounding areas, especially in some alpine mountainous areas of Tibet, Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu and Yunnan provinces. Here are some of the famous Cordyceps sinensis origins:

    1. Tibet Autonomous Region

The Nagqu region of Tibet is one of the main production areas of Cordyceps. Nagqu is located in the core area of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with high altitude and cold climate, which is very suitable for the growth of Cordyceps. Cordyceps sinensis is known for its large body size and good medicinal effects.

    2. Qinghai Province

Yushu, Guoluo and Hainan prefectures in Qinghai Province are famous Cordyceps sinensis producing areas. Cordyceps sinensis from Qinghai, especially Yushu products, is of excellent quality and is considered one of the best quality Cordyceps. The plateau environment of Qinghai provides ideal growing conditions for Cordyceps.

    3. Sichuan Province

Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture and Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province are also major producers of Cordyceps. Especially in Shiqu County, Derge County, Litang County and other areas of Ganzi, the Cordyceps sinensis herbs produced have high efficacy and good quality.

    4. Yunnan Province

Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Yunnan is also one of the important production areas of Cordyceps. The climate and altitude conditions of Diqing are similar to those of Tibet and Qinghai, so it is suitable for the growth of Cordyceps.

    5. Gansu Province

Gannan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Wuwei, Linxia and other places in Gansu Province also have the growth of Cordyceps, among which the Cordyceps sinensis in Gannan is more famous. Cordyceps sinensis in Gansu is slightly smaller in size, but its medicinal value is also high.

The common characteristics of these areas are high altitude, cold climate, thin air, relatively pure environment and relatively closed ecosystem, which provide ideal conditions for the growth of Cordyceps.
